Munroe Bergdorf Joins The ‘Illamafia’ as The Face of Illamasqua’s Next Campaign
Two weeks ago Munroe Bergdorf was sacked by L’Oreal; according to them her opinions on race, equality and privilege are ‘at odds with their own values’…
Just when we thought the beauty industry was diversifying.
Since then Munroe has been keeping it classy despite the vicious hate being thrown her way.
She’s stood by her opinion and continued to explain her views with intellect and integrity. Support has been showered from all corners of the internet with multiple models and influencers expressing their disappointment in L’Oreal.
In addition to this support, fans on twitter took it upon themselves to campaign for Munroe to get hired by other major brands, and it seems to have worked.
On 1st September Illamasqua tweeted their support of Munroe stating “We stand with @MunroeBergdorf #IStandWithMunroe #Illamafia #Loreal”.
The beauty brand also stated that they believe her words were taken out of context and continued to say ‘Illamasqua is a brand that stands proudly and unashamedly for diversity and equality.
We don’t stand or accept any form of racism’.
Today Munroe announced on Twitter and Instagram that she is the newest face of Illamasqua’s next campaign. A beauty brand that doesn’t shy away from the fact that racism exists and is making moves in breaking down the barriers within the industry.
According to the team at Illamasqua their next campaign focuses on gender fluidity, it will feature Munroe Bergdorf and Rain Dove.
‘In order for our generation to move forward and create a more inclusive society, it’s not just about showing diversity. We must all be free to talk about social issues in a constructive and tolerant way.’
Diversity done right. It’s onwards and upwards for Munroe Bergdorf; freedom to speak on real life issues and the support of a beautiful high end brand. We can’t wait to see the campaign.
