Remy Ma Wins Best Female Hip Hop Artist At The BET Awards

In a shock twist that suprised Remy Ma herself, the New York rapper took home the Best Female Hip Hop Artist Award tonight. She beat Missy Elliot, Young M.A, Cardi B., and her arch rival -- Nicki Minaj. She was also nominated with Fat Joe  for Best Group, running against Migos, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, A Tribe Called  Quest, and Rae Sremmurd with Migos winning the award.

Remy Ma's victory comes on the heels of a public feud with fellow Best Female Hip Hop Artist nominee, Nicki Minaj. After Jason Derulo released "Swalla" featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj -- with the latter's verse throwing perceived shots towards Remy--  on February 23, Remy fired back with a brutal, almost 7 minutes long, diss track called "ShEther" -- the name coming from Nas's "Ether" diss track aimed at Jay Z released in 2001. On ShEther, Remy rapped "And we all know it was a beef that you started/Pillow-talkin' out of your ass, this bitch retarded." Four days later, Remy released another diss track aptly titled "Another One". Nicki responded with her own diss, "No Frauds", on March 10. On the track, she rapped "You can't be Pablo if your work ain't sellin/What the fuck is this bitch inhalin'?"

Nicki Minaj hasn't officially responded to the award snub but Twitter users have begun to speculate how she reacted.
