Kanye West Leaves Tidal, Says Company Owes Him $3 Million
Kanye West and Jay Z's fractured relationship was the subject of the former's numerous concert rants on his The Life of Pablo Tour. It looks like at least part of what led to their falling out stems from Jay Z's TIDAL owing him more than $3 million USD.
Reports that have surfaced claimed that West sent TIDAL a breach of contract letter a few months ago to end his relationship with the streaming company. West's lawyers claim that the 1.5 million subscribers on TIDAL aren't reflected in his bonuses. Jay Z says that West never delivered music videos for The Life of Pablo and is keeping them until he (West) gets paid.
Jay Z's 4:44 album brought rumored tensions between him and longtime collaborator Kanye West to light on "Kill Jay Z" with "But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye / You gave him 20 million without thinkin’ / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f*ck was he thinkin’? / ‘F*ck wrong with everybody?’ is what you sayin’ / But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane.”
Both sides are prepared to take legal action against the other.
