Tyga Announces New Album Releasing This Friday

Ever since his high profile relationship with socialite Kylie Jenner ended in March of this year, Tyga has been relatively under the radar. On the music front, he’s been taking it easy since the release of his last mixtape, Rawwest Nigga Alive in 2016. It looks like he’s back to putting out new music, with the announcement on Instagram of his new album, Bitch I’m The Shit 2, releasing on July 21.

The back cover of the album, unveiled in the Instagram announcement of the project, features a man wearing a motorcycle helmet (most likely Tyga) on top of a motorcycle, clad in a Ducati jacket and pair of pants. Next to the man, the tracklist is listed in all caps. The 15-track project will include guest appearances fromQuavo, Pusha T, Kanye West, Young Thug, Ty Dolla Sign, Vince Staples, King, Chief Keef, Ae, and Honey Cocaine. This will be Honey Cocaine’s first major appearance since recovering from a concert shooting in 2012.

Tyga’s last studio album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, was both critically and commercially unsuccessful. Pitchfork, one of the premier media outlets for music criticism, gave the project a score of 3.9 out of 10 with reviewer Meaghan Garvey saying “Tyga doesn’t even sound like he’s having fun here; the prevailing mood is one of vague bitterness, directed at everyone, but particularly women.” The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty only sold 2,200 copies in the tracking week, failing to make the Billboard 200.

Tyga recently joined the cast of MTV’s Scream for Season 3 in a leading role, along with actor C.J. Wallace. The serious-regular role will be Tyga’s first lead acting gig.
